    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7A341 Safari/528.16)

If this is a standard $129 upgrade I don't see anything here worth that price sadly. That is unless somehow my 2009 mac pro will run 2x as fast but I am not keeping my fingers crossed.

What do you mean true 3D? Motion 3 integrated 3D reflection, shadows, depth of field, etc.. It was around that time I stopped using After Effects. There are still things that AE can do that Motion can't, but that's mostly due to 3rd party plugins.

I mean 3D objects with materials, textures, shaders, better lighting, better shadows, no crashing several times a day...
3D like ProAnimator FX or Kinemac at least. No plugin required.

Here are some rumors I've heard, but don't feel like linking to. Check with Google if you want.

*BitTorrent - Integrated into Leopard as a core technology, much like Spotlight. Used in Software Update and a new version of Safari.

*iChat Phone - Call numbers through iChat as part of .Mac... I guess you could make a conference with a combination of multiple phone numbers/iChatters.

*Maps - A new application designed to compete with Google Earth, but of course be much, much snazzier. Apparently, the next MBP would include a GPS chip so that you could see a "You Are Here" on the map.

I didn't check the details, yet, but the Maps and Phone aspects do sound interesting.

The only problem with the iChat Phone....you call through your computer. That's not really true VOIP, where you have an actual phone.......which could mean the OS really leads to a new product....

As for Maps....hmm...the part I can't see....all the people walking around with a MBP looking at a map....but....you are at coffee shop, checking on email, then need to see a map for some new spot....hmm. still sounds like a new widget...

    Good thoughts though.:)

I have close to 20 premium cars (level 17) and i've not noticed much in the way of damage. I do generally drive very safely though.

Damage IMO is much like it was in Project Gotham 1 and 2. One must hit a wall at 100mp+ to see anything significant.

I know if it is it will work, what i'm asking is, is it? Or is that not known at this time?

Not known. There might be other concerns apart from the socket compatibility: FSB, firmware, and in particular the heat output.

Well now you ignorant yankie ;) Firstly the mobile phone penetration in Europe is about 99% or maybe slighly more. You should really travel a bit to get some perspective.

And secondly, GSM has user base of over 1 billion while CDMA as you said has some 60m users. Which one you think would be more interesting market to cover for a new mobile phone manufacturer? And there is really no question of "we'll see which one wins" because GSM won a long long time ago, hands down.

Are you saying 99% of Europeans use cell phones or that 99% of Europe is cell-ready? If the former, then there must be a ton of kids yapping it up on the wireless. ;)

I guess it wouldn't hurt their future sales to announce international release dates. Several people I know have ordered or bought an iPad 2 simply because it is available (even with order backlogs) compared to Honeycomb tablets.
Here in continental Europe, all I saw so far was an announcement for the second quarter, which can slip to whenever...
Those of you who already got it - is it worth the wait?

Since the release of Leopard, the subsequent releases haven't had the wow factor of before.

    Just what I think anyway.

    I agree entirely.

I also think 10.4.11 is the best OS ever.

    Features I want:

-iChat screen sharing (awesome idea!) and video effects
-Spaces (finally a Apple OS-level implementation)
-Time Machine (I want a friggin wormhole on my computer!)

I wish they'd show us the Top Secret features.

But seriously, so one even saw Time Machine coming. That was a surprise!

These rumors surrounding the iPhone have been around for quite a while now, so I sure hope it becomes reality sooner rather than later. Who knows, if its really good I may actually buy my first cell phone ever.

    - Major revamp of asset cataloguing system with integrated final cut server, something similiar to what Aperture does with photos. This will be it's biggest feature
    - Core image fx with integrated Shake-style fx compositing

and the usual obvious things (64 bit, new formats, updated quicktime, etc..)

I would /kill/ for better asset management. The "Aperture" for video is what I've been needing for a while now...

It matters that you describe it as fornication.

What has this dubious claim to do with anything?
No it doesn't, not when people brag about how much they sleep around

Your link supports the idea that Greek society supported pederasty. If they have such a failing what is to say they don't have other failings
He's trying to equate in our minds homosexuality, rape, and pedophilia.

rape and paedophilia both involve lack of consent. Although paedophilia has to do with that the mind is attracted to pre-pubescent children in the same way that homosexuality causes attraction to the same sex. Both cases are untreatable.

This would be like Ford paying Exxon a fee because some car drivers syphon gas....pretty weird!

Not quite, the car you syphon it from will still need to go back and refill... it's not duplicating the fuel....

The music industry needs a wake up call, there is probably no more complicated industry than this, with various copyright issues and loads of 'official bodies' legislating all kinds of stuff, and all because you thought of a song, recorded it with your 100 dollar acoustic guitar and want to sell it to make a living.. Try it, you can't. Once you have to go through all the above, your inspiration and will is flushed straight out....

    snippet

Why is Front Row dependent on iSight ?

No good, clear reason. It's just that Front Row usually goes along with PhotoBooth, so.... Also, it seems that Apple might be really pushing iChat with Leopard, especially video chatting, and the iMac, MBP, and MB all have iSights. It doesn't seem too crazy to believe that perhaps Apple wants a built-in camera in all of their hardware. In the case of the Mac Pro, Xserve, and Mini, the natural place for such a device is a display.

    Pure speculation, of course. :D

I meant last year when the iPhone 4 was released....

Yes, did they have the iPhone 4 in the AT&T stores? I thought they did. I know for sure when the 3G came out, they had it in the AT&T stores as well as the Apple stores.

I don't mean the $50 3GS that you can get now from AT&T.

As someone who's attended NAB yearly, (and again this year) Apple has not had a presence there since and currently are NOT on the exhibitor list for this years convention. Will take pics if I'm wrong though.

When you are as HUGE as best buy, and you are selling a product as huge as the iPad, it makes sense to create a demand. People do this all the time. You can't get it now, so the second it becomes available to you, you buy it in fear that you might have to wait another month. This happens all the time with a lot of products.

You really think Best Buy needs to help create a demand? Seriously?

    My predictions:

MacPro: quad woodcrest @ 3GHz, 1GB ram standard, two high speed video card slots, ATI x1900, or NVIDIA 7950GX2, for first time, ATI FireGL boards available as BTO.
XServe: dual woodcrest, larger hard drives
Airport: "pre-n" announced, ships on new MacPros, available in 6 weeks for standalone devices, upgradable when standard is formalized
Leopard: preview, all of OS now 64bit able, still runs on 32bit machines. Takes full advantage of GPU. The usual slew of apps updated.
XCode: updated to 3.0, API for project files made available, various "features" (ie bugs) fixed

    Not happening:
    iPods, iPhone

New displays and updated "pro" apps will happen at NAB in April. However Steve may announce that all Pro apps are now universal apps. Also, he will hold over the quad G5 in the line-up until Adode has all of their apps universal.

yeah, what he said. Apple does not have to distinguish powermacs from servers with processor speeds. People (businesses) who need servers are not going to buy powermacs to do the job even if they are a little bit faster or cheaper; they are going to buy real rack-mounted servers.

Now you're not thinking like a competitive company that needs to continue to make money.

Sun is on the ropes and Apple now has a chance to soar in and take a lot of business from them.

How does Apple releasing an eight-way workstation prevent them from competing with Sun in the server market, again? I must have missed that part.

I'd say even the icon grid claim is reaching. The pictures shown all show the Android application drawer. The actual home screen on Galaxy S devices, what shows up after unlocking, is not the icon grid with a dock. You have to dig into the phone to get to the grid of icons, which frankly again has been shown to be a pretty standard phone UI. Older Palm/Sony models had the "icon grid" UIs in their phones also. :

    http://www.mobiledia.com/reviews/sonyericsson/t610/images/front.jpg
    http://www.mobileincanada.com/images/unlock/att-palm-treo-600.jpg

Let's face it, the "icon grid" has been a UI for quite a while now :

    http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/p/progman.jpg
    http://i55.tinypic.com/jzzc53.png
    http://www.guidebookgallery.org/pics/gui/system/managers/filemanager/cde15solaris9.png

And all of them had a dock too? And the page change notifier and similar styled icons?

People fail to understand that Apple isn't suing for grid layout. They are suing for the entire phone which looks just like an iPhone. Simple.
